Professor Maritta Välimäki's has background as a psychiatric and mental health nurse. After her clinical and administrative career in psychiatric services, she has worked in academia since 1992. Currently she is a professor at the University of Turku and the University of Helsinki. She is engaged in developing user-centered services and technological solutions in a variety of settings, especially in mental health. She is dedicated in mentoring young researchers; she has supervised more than 30 doctoral candidates.    

Maija Satamo is a doctoral researcher in Nursing Science at University of Turku, Finland. Her professional experience and background as registered nurse is characterized by caring older adults with serious mental health problems. Her research interests of mental health nursing align with her clinical experience.
