Bringing in its experiences in coordinating EU's Re-Define project, UNIVR co-leads WP4 focusing on intervention study with migrants in Italy.

Corrado Barbui holds an MD degree from the University of Milan and a postdoctoral degree in Psychiatry from the University of Verona, Italy. He received training in mental health epidemiology, clinical psychopharmacology and health services research at the Mario Negri Institute for Pharmacological Research, Milan, and at the Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College, London. After returning to Italy, he conducted research in the field of evidence-based mental health. In 2013, he became Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Research and Training in Mental Health and Service Evaluation of the University of Verona. In 2015, he was appointed Full Professor of Psychiatry and in 2021 Chairperson of the Department of Neuroscience, Biomedicine and Movement Sciences at the University of Verona. He is currently coordinating randomised clinical trials and systematic reviews evaluating the beneficial effects of psychosocial and pharmacological interventions in vulnerable populations, including people with mental health problems, refugees and migrants, and people living in humanitarian settings.

 

 

Marianna Purgato is a clinical psychologist and assistant professor at the University of Verona. My research interests focus on the evaluation of mental health and psychosocial support interventions for vulnerable population groups.

 

 

Eleonora Prina is a psychiatric rehabilitation technician and a post-doctoral researcher at the WHO Collaborating Centre for Research and Training in Mental Health and Service Evaluation of the University of Verona (Italy). Since 2019, Eleonora Prina has collaborated in conducting systematic review and meta-analysis employing the Cochrane methodology. In 2022, during her PhD, she was a visiting researcher at the Alan J Flisher Centre for Public Mental Health at the University of Cape Town (South Africa) under the supervision of Professor Crick Lund. Her research interests lie in global and public mental health, non-pharmacological interventions for the prevention and treatment of mental disorders, and well-being of migrants.
