Cláudia de Freitas

Cláudia is Associate Researcher at the Institute of Public Health and Invited Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, both at the University of Porto. As an interdisciplinary social scientist, Cláudia is interested in public and user involvement in health policy and research, data governance and digital health. She is especially interested in participatory governance and how issues of representativeness, inclusion, and justice come to the fore (or are cast to the fringes) in data-intensive research landscapes. She is also interested in the emergence of new forms of civic participation, advocacy, and citizenship linked to health digitisation.

Cláudia leads the Research Lab Public and Patient Involvement in Health at the Associate Laboratory for Integrative and Translational Research in Population Health (ITR), University of Porto. She co-coordinates Project ADVANCE co-creation Work Package 1. She is also involved on a project assessing public attitudes towards the use of blockchain technology in health data sharing and she was technical adviser at the University of Limerick’s WHO Collaborating Centre on Centre for Migrants Involvement in Health Research.
