Self-Help Plus (SH+) – stress management training

Self-Help Plus (SH+) is a stress management program developed by the World Health Organization (WHO). It helps people cope better with stress, difficult thoughts, and challenging emotions while focusing on what truly matters to them in life. The program is based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and encourages psychological flexibility, resilience, and well-being.

SH+ is delivered in small groups using short audio sessions guided by trained facilitators and supported by simple, illustrated materials. For ADVANCE, the program has been adapted for older adults in Switzerland and is available in French and German. In addition to the group sessions, participants can use a digital version at home to continue practicing and strengthening the skills they learn.

SH+ is WHO’s 5-session stress management course for large groups of up to 30 people that uses pre-recorded audio and an illustrated guide to teach stress management skill.

Cognitive Training – supporting brain health and lifestyle change

The cognitive training program supports older adults in maintaining and improving their cognitive health. It combines short audio-guided group sessions with a digital platform that offers practical exercises, information, and interactive tools.

Participants learn about how the brain ages and which lifestyle factors can protect cognitive health, such as physical activity, social engagement, and mentally stimulating activities. They are encouraged to choose one or two personal goals and to gradually build healthier habits that fit into their daily lives. The program helps participants plan, monitor, and adapt their goals, strengthening their ability to manage change independently.
